Going nowhere fast

Just when we thought the drama at the TTC had come to a head, it was quickly established that it hadn't.  It was really only a matter of time until the ones being blamed for not doing a job well done, or doing it at all, decided to turn the tables in retaliation to "defend" their actions.  We are all still waiting for the reason as to why the collector was taking a nap in the booth?  What about the 7 minute break for a coffee?  Oh yeah.. and the other collector who decided that his glass enclosed utopia at King station was ideal for a snooze?
As the news was told,  the pictures and videos going viral on the internet gained a larger audience, and then more videos surfaced from riders eager to make their videographer debut on youtube posting their accounts of what they describe as "poor service".  So going back to the retaliation... A group page gets posted on early Sunday morning called "Toronto Transit Operators against public harassment".  I was fortunate enough to get into this "elite club" before it became a closed group after bantering and bickering became an all out slugfest of words, accusations, and a lot of getting nowhere productively.
I sat for quite a while reading the back and forth "discussions" of drivers vs. passengers who were both quick to defend their actions, rights and entitlements.
The picture of the collector in the booth at Mc Cowan station, hands folded over his tummy, reclined in his comfy chair in the safety of his booth now in hind sight actually had the right idea.  All the back and forth he said, she said nonsense of what should have been and still needs to happen conversation, has gotten nowhere and I'm afraid that its going to get worse before it gets any better.
Do the TTC workers have it rough?
Do riders have it so bad?
Has our expectation level become higher than what the TTC is willing to accommodate?
Is anyone justified in their actions based on the door being opened on a can of worms that people weren't able to really able to open until technology made it easier?  So many questions.
I'm know that there are horrible riders who don't make it any easier to be a collector, driver or cleaner on the system.  That can be said for any profession that involves interaction with with the public to any degree. There is always the "bad seed", and there will always be the one quick to defend their actions, but if everyone just did their jobs, would there really be any problem?
With their backs up, and little eye contact being made, both the riders and drivers have the long road ahead to make amends, whether it be keeping their feet off the seats, or giving great customer service with a smile, both sides of this mess need to get it together for the sake of themselves and their quickly dissipating integrity.
